The new year is here It’s all about those empty promises: Gyms are packed Diets get started A broken record on repeat… But this year is gonna be different Is it really?

The start of something new

The new year is always a time when people think about changing their lives and doing a complete 360.There is nothing bad about that idea. But like always it’s an idea more than an action.

Stop reaching for the skies.. reach for the ceiling first

Changing your lifestyle, habits, and anything else isn’t going to happen overnight. More than anything shooting for a goal that is highly unrealistic won’t do any good. Maybe instead of eating 4 slices of pizza eat 3If you are trying to save money start with a small amount every month or even every paycheck and increase the amount as time goes on

The goal

What’s your end goal? The goal should never be to make more money, to lose weight, to start a diet. You will fail as soon as you start. Those same principles should be having a job you enjoy, live a healthy lifestyle, or time management to be able to spend more time with family or friends.  At the end of the day if you try and live a healthy lifestyle you will end up losing the weight as well.

Staying on track

Stuff happens and nobody is perfect. Sometimes temptations are going to be there. That chocolate cake at the middle of the night might start talking to you. It’s all about enjoying life but also with balance. So enjoy the cake but stay focused on what you want to accomplish.  Starting a new year is never easy. Especially if you have been trying to change every year but it’s always the same. Ask yourself what’s preventing you from making those changes. Most of the time if not every time you will make excuses and blame other people. At the end of the day, you control your own life so take charge and make 2019 the start of something new.

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas..

Busy grocery stores

Congested malls

Cranky people everywhere

Houses are decorated with Christmas lights and the inflatable Santa’s begin to roll out.

If you live in California, Christmas is very different than the Christmas you see on tv. If you have ever watched movies like Home Alone and A Christmas Story. The one thing they have in common, is snow. The closest thing Californians get is rain and that’s if it rains.

The one other thing you get to see are thousands of what seem to look like Christmas lights as you sit in traffic if you are traveling.

This holiday month is filled with presents and joy. Spending time with family or friends and enjoying memories that can last a lifetime. It seems like the holiday season is always the time people are most happy and joyous. People often come together and help each other out and go out of their way to make other people smile.

It’s good to remember not everyone is fortunate and has family or friends to spend time with.

Wherever you are

Whomever you are spending this holiday season with

Take a second, sit back, and enjoy the simple things that life has to offer.

A laugh

A smile

A conversation

A hug

Those memories you create with the people around you are the ones that you will remember the most.

Who do you rep?

Do you double dip when it comes to buying clothing more specifically athletic wear?

Nike shoes

New balance socks

Adidas shorts

Under Armour shirt

Puma sweatband

Or is that ratio going a little too far?

Brand loyalty or price?

Times are tough and sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. I’m going to be honest with you I tend to learn more towards Adidas when I buy my gear but if I see something that is on sale and it just happens to be from Nike. I’m not going to say no.

Is there such a thing as going too far?

There is nothing wrong with wearing different brands but as far as personal taste I limit myself to 2 brands. I find that for myself it’s not so much about having too many logos on me but more about different brands having different styles. What does that mean?

Since different brands have different styles they don’t always look good when wearing them together.

Everything comes down to personal taste, so you do what feels right in your heart. If it fits your style, and all comes together go for it. Just keep in my you will most likely come out looking like you should be in one of Richard Simmons exercise videos.

Does it bother you when you see someone wearing too many brand?

Its 10 pm Thanksgiving night

Standing sitting waiting

Nothing like our Thanksgiving night

Family time, eating, turkey no more

It seems like each year Black Friday gets bigger and better. The deals get sweeter on things we don’t even need. Thanksgiving dinners for some are more like standing in line for hours on end.

Black Friday a national holiday

Black Friday isn’t even an official holiday, but it is the biggest unofficial holiday of the year. The amount spent in 2018 during Black Friday sales will be over 700 billion dollars. Just to put things in perspective 2008 was marked by the financial crisis. Even then spending on Black Friday sales was about 500 billion. It’s insane when you think about the fact that people were losing their jobs, homes, and banks were closing. People still somehow had enough money to go shopping.

No more fighting more online shopping

There are still fights breaking out over getting electronics and other devices. But more and more people are shopping online. As online shopping has become more and more popular. Retailers are also changing to evolve to the online consumer. The best part is that online shopping offers retailers a lot more options to get you to buy more.

It’s beginning to look like money

The internet offers endless opportunities to target you and make you feel so special. Exclusive offers, one-day deals, get it now before its gone, countdowns. Numbers make your brain do things you wouldn’t normally do, and retargeting comes back to find you and stronger than ever. Everything you’ve been searching for the past few years suddenly starts to appear in ads in your searches, Instagram, Facebook, and many other places.

It’s safe to say Black Friday is here to stay and is only getting stronger. If you need some of the things that are on sale, it could be an excellent opportunity to save some money on things you need or things you know you’ll need soon. I know it’s hard to resist buying that new Ipad even though there is nothing special about it. Instead, have a nice Thanksgiving meal with those you love. You can still do some shopping in the comfort of your home while sipping on some hot chocolate, wine, or your favorite drink. The best part is that you don’t have to deal with the chaos.

Happy Black Friday!!
